Just how beneficial are infrared saunas?
Well, when you step into an infrared sauna, your body responds to the far infrared heat with an increased heart rate, dilated blood vessels, and you’ll begin sweating. This also leads to increased blood circulation.
This reaction is almost identical to the way your body will respond to low to moderate exercise. Depending on how long you spend in a sauna, your body’s response may be different. Your heart rate may increase to anywhere from 100 to 150 beats per minute. These physical responses listed above often bring a number of health benefits.
The wavelength of light, known as far infrared radiation (FIR), can’t be seen with the human eye and is one form of electromagnetic energy. The exchange between the infrared frequency and the water content of your body’s tissues leads to a few different health responses.
In one study [1], a group of patients with rheumatoid arthritis experienced a reduction in fatigue, pain, and stiffness from using infrared sauna therapy.
Another study found [2] that far infrared radiation can be used as a natural therapy to reduce oxidative stress and improve cardiac and vascular function in patients with chronic heart failure.
Several studies have found that infrared saunas may also help reduce blood pressure, according to one review [3].
There are a wide range of options to choose from when it comes to picking the right sauna. It can be tough trying to figure out which one’s most beneficial to you. Thankfully, you won’t have to look far to figure out what the best sauna is for you. We’ve done the research for you.
In this article, we’ll go through each of the different models available from the Radiant Saunas line of far infrared saunas.
Plus, if you still need help determining which type of sauna is right for you, make sure you check out our buyer’s guide at the bottom of the article.
Why You Should Use Radiant Saunas At Home
Radiant Saunas offer you an affordable way to walk in full health without having to leave your home. If you deal with any of these health issues, you’ll want to consider using a Radiant Sauna:
- Sleep issues
- Stress
- Sore muscles
- Arthritis
- Poor circulation
- Skin issues
- Chronic fatigue syndrome
- Heart ailments
Radiant Saunas use far infrared light that penetrates deeply into your skin, up to 1.5 inches to impact the bond between molecules in your cells. Infrared heat, in particular, allows your skin temperature to increase without increasing your core temperature as much, so you can receive a variety of health benefits.
Constructed from either Canadian Hemlock or Canadian Cedar, Radiant Saunas are both scar-resistant and hypoallergenic. Both types of wood are durable and act as an impressive insulator which easily keeps the heat contained while you’re using the sauna. Plus, you won’t have to worry about any future mold issues, since the wood is antimicrobial, resisting mold and mildew.
Radiant Saunas were made to be used right at home. Their slim profile allows them to fit easily into your home gym, basement, or master bathroom. The saunas are large enough for 2 people, yet compact enough to fit in any room in the house.
Forget having to design and build your own home sauna from scratch. Simply assemble the intuitively-designed, buckle-assembly sauna in under an hour. Radiant Saunas come as easy-assembly DIY kits.
All you have to do is open up the box, clip the pieces together, plug the sauna in, and you’re ready to soak up the therapeutic properties of the sauna.
Each sauna includes a control panel to easily control the temperature, timer, lighting, and music. Simply turn on the sauna, and in about 30 minutes, it’s fully ready. Adjust your lighting, turn on your favorite relaxing music and enjoy passive healing at its finest.

What Buyers Love Most About Radiant Saunas
- Very Fast Set Up. When you purchase a Radiant Sauna, it arrives at your front door as a simple DIY kit. Similar to IKEA, the pieces are all cut out perfectly. All you have to do is piece them together. The Radiant Saunas are known for being especially easy to assemble, since you just have to clip each piece together. With 2 people, you should be able to assemble the entire sauna in under an hour.
- Reforested Canadian Hemlock & Cedar Wood. Radiant Saunas are constructed from thick, durable Canadian Hemlock or Cedar Wood. The wood is extremely sturdy, and will allow the sauna to last for decades.
- Chromotherapy Lighting System. Radiant Saunas feature a chromotherapy LED lighting system. Depending on your physical needs, you can easily adjust the lighting to receive additional health benefits. The 3 exceptions are the first 3 models on our list (BSA2400, BSA2404, BSA2406)
- Integrated Audio System. Every Radiant Sauna comes with a built-in audio system that’s integrated with the LCD control panel. You can connect your smartphone or tablet to the sound system by the auxiliary cord, or by inserting a CD. It also includes FM radio.
- Excellent Customer Service. Radiant Saunas is known for their service. Reaching them is quite simple and if issues have come up with parts or replacements, they’re happy to help, and can send replacement items in no time.
- 7-Year Warranty. While many sauna companies will offer light warranties of 1-3 years, Radiant Saunas offers an impressive 7-year limited warranty on the wood. They also include a 5-year electronics and heating warranty, and a 1-year radio warranty.
What Some Buyers Didn’t Like
- The backrests can get quite hot. Because of how the Radiant Saunas are designed, the backrests can get quite hot overall. This is because the heaters are close to the back in most of the saunas and can get a bit on the uncomfortable side.
- The sauna maxes out at 140 F. In order to receive the maximum benefits from an infrared sauna, you’ll need to ensure it gets hot enough. However, for some people, they like their saunas to hit above 150 or 160 F. Radiant Saunas aren’t able to go past 140, so if that’s an issue for you, you’ll want to consider a different brand.
- There aren’t very large models. Radiant Saunas offers a variety of sauna models. However, they cap out at 6 people. One downside is that, compared to other manufacturers, they don’t offer larger models that could fit 7, 8, 9, or 10 people.
Our Verdict
If you’re sick of having to drive across town to your local gym or spa just so you can use a sauna, then you’ll love what Radiant Saunas can offer you.
Instead of having to make a trip out to use a sauna, you can now receive all the health benefits of using a sauna right in the comfort of your own home. This is crucial if you suffer from chronic pain, high blood pressure, or congestive heart failure [4], but don’t, because it’s too difficult to take a trip to the gym every day. If you’d rather be able to relax, ease your muscle pain, and shed fat from your own home, you’ll love the simplicity of Radiant Saunas.
Since their saunas come as a simple DIY kit, you can have your sauna set up and ready to use within an hour after the kit arrives. Simply clip the pieces of reforested Canadian Hemlock or Cedar together, plug it in, and you’re ready.
Radiant Saunas offer a dynamic range of 13 different models to choose from which makes it easy to ensure you get the right sauna for your needs. Each one includes an easy-to-operate LCD control panel, built-in lights, and a sound system. This ensures you’re able to stay relaxed and entertained while you’re automatically soaking up the health rewards.
One downside to Radiant Saunas is that the backrests can get a bit hot, even though the overall temperature maxes out at 140 F. However, this is really the biggest weakness. Considering many manufacturers don’t even include backrests, they’re still a nice bonus for those who can handle the heat. Thankfully, you can simply remove them if you think they’re a bit too hot.
Overall, if you want to receive the substantial health benefits of a sauna without having to trek across town to a gym, you’ll love using a Radiant Sauna.
Infrared Sauna Buyer’s Guide
Last but not least, before you select your infrared sauna, you’ll want to check out our buyer’s guide. There are a few different factors you’ll want to consider when purchasing an infrared sauna. Here are a few key considerations when picking out the best infrared sauna.
How Big Is It?
Will you be using the sauna by yourself? Or do you have an entire family that wants to use it at once?
Depending on how many people will be using the sauna at any one time will determine whether you need to get a 1 person, 2 person, or even 6 person infrared sauna. They come in a variety of different sizes, from 1 person, all the way to 10 person saunas.
An important note is that saunas are usually a bit smaller than expected. Generally speaking, you should try to pick a size up if you want to ensure you’re comfortable. This is especially important if you plan on enjoying the sauna with your partner, family, or a group of friends.
What Shape Is It?
Saunas come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. You can get portable dome models, square models, corner models, and rectangular box models. Some saunas even come in a barrel shape.
The most important factor in choosing the right shape depends on where you’ll be placing the sauna in your home. Estimate the minimum and maximum dimensions you’ll need for your infrared sauna to fit properly in the spot of your choice.
What Type of Wood Is It Made From?
Saunas are typically made from wood. 3 of the most commonly used types of wood to make infrared saunas are: Canadian Hemlock, Western Red Cedar, and Nordic Spruce.
Canadian Hemlock: This type of wood is the most affordable of the 3. It’s a light tan-colored wood that’s great for saunas since it’s both durable and sturdy. It is made to survive harsh treatment over the years.
Western Red Cedar: This type of wood is a great choice for infrared saunas. It’s a darker, reddish-colored wood that is very light but quite durable. It’s decay-resistant and gives off a very inviting odor.
Nordic Spruce: This wood is found in European countries and is very common in European-made saunas. It looks similar to Canadian Hemlock, but is a bit lighter in color. It’s a durable wood, though not quite as decay-resistant as Western Red Cedar.
What Type of Heater Does It Have?
The two most common types of infrared heaters are carbon and ceramic. Here are a few characteristics of each:
Ceramic Heaters:
- Lower upfront cost
- Less heating surface area
- Shorter life span
- Emits higher EMF levels
- Low heat output
- High surface temperature
- Not as energy efficient
Carbon Heaters:
- Higher upfront cost
- More heat distribution
- Longer life
- Emits low EMF levels
- High heat output
- Penetrates deeply into skin
- Lower surface temperature
- More energy efficient
How Is the Atmosphere?
Nowadays, most modern infrared saunas will commonly include a number of bonuses. 3 of the most common factors in atmosphere experience come down to 3 factors: visibility, music, lighting.
Visibility: Does the sauna come with a tempered glass door or window that lets you see outside easily? Not only can additional windows or doors make the sauna more attractive, but it also enhances the atmosphere when you’re inside.
Music: Most infrared saunas come with a sound system. Usually, this includes a sound system attached to the control panel with speakers. They often come with an auxiliary input for your smartphone or tablet, a CD player, and FM radio.
Lighting: The sauna experience wouldn’t be complete without the right lighting. You’ll first want to check that there’s some form of lighting so you aren’t using the sauna in the dark. Next, check for additional lighting. Many modern saunas come with LED lighting and some even include chromotherapy lighting that you can adjust through the control panel.
What Kind of Warranty Is Included?
Last, but not least, you should always make sure the sauna includes a solid warranty.
